A Look at Futon Mattresses, and Where to Find the Bargains

All right - I admit it. I absolutely love futons because of their versatility. I also like the futon mattresses because I've had a couple of bad car accidents and they seem like the only mattress that is firm and comfortable. I actually replaced my spring mattress on my bed with a futon mattress and have experienced a world of difference in my physical well-being. Back spasms, neck pain and lower back pain have become a thing of the past since switching to futon mattresses.

When shopping for futons, you'll often find that vendors sell the frame and mattress separately. This seems to be particularly true of the higher dollar frames such as wicker frames or log frames. You can save a bundle by finding bargain mattresses. You'll find that there are quality futon mattresses that you can order online and have shipped directly to your home for around $100 - $200 (sometimes more, and sometimes less if you get a good sale). You can always find futon mattresses at your local furniture dealer or department store, but if you drive a car, it's a challenge to fit the mattress in the vehicle. I've always bought my mattresses online because I like having the item shipped directly to the house. The online prices are very competitive ... even less than the local dealers.

The price of your futon mattress will depend on how thick you want your mattress (starting from 4 inches thick and up), if you want springs in the mattress, and how large the mattress is. The thicker mattresses are obviously more comfortable, but they will cost more. Futon mattresses are available for single sleeper futon beds, full, queen and king sized futon beds.
